Q- What happens if an activity needs to be changed in a running project?

Projects are obliged to carry out those activities that were approved with the application and issued in the contract. It is in exceptional cases understandable that it may become necessary to make adjustments to an activity during the lifetime of a project. As a formal procedure, a minor change of activities needs to be decided upon by the Secretariat and major changes need to be decided upon by the Steering Committee.

A minor change is defined to be in line with the application form, not have a significant impact on the project content and to have no impact on the total budget. A major change on the other hand has a significant impact on the project content and/or changes the total budget.

Most important is to contact the Secretariat as soon as the Lead Beneficiary gets to know about the change and well in advance before altering activities. In coordination with the Secretariat, you will be required to highlight the amendments in relation to your approved application and you will have to explain the need for these changes.

The Secretariat will then carry out an assessment based on the edited application and explanations provided. In minor cases, the Secretariat will then take a decision. For major changes, only once the Steering Committee has agreed to the change, the project will be able to proceed accordingly.

A request for such a change should be submitted through the NSR online system.
