Project Aims
The project has been prepared as a tool to stimulate and accelerate the process of sustainable innovations. The main idea behind the project is to create an interregional co-operation on sustainable innovation between relevant stakeholders in order to foster the start-up and development of innovative companies, products and tools.
Expected Outcomes
To foster the start-up and development of innovative companies, products and tools.
Activities
The first gear is exchanging experiences and establishing promising approaches in regional policies towards sustainable innovations. This means that the project in this phase will focus on enabling the networking between interests, experts and businesses and regional policies to bring innovative practices together. The second gear will be focusing on the definition of trans-national thematic projects for the implementation of innovations. Concrete project proposals will be established on the bases of the experiences gathered in the first gear, which can be implemented in the different regions. Furthermore tools will be identified to enable successful implementation of these project ideas. It is expected that these ideas can be applied under the new transnational programme. The third gear is presenting best cases and experiences to politicians from EU countries in a final meeting at the end of the project period. In this way politicians will be involved and will be able to discuss the outcome of the project. Project results will be able to influence the policy development on facilitating sustainable innovations in a positive way, which should result in a more systematic approach of the issue. Finally this will create political support on a national and regional level for facilitating sustainable innovation.
Reported Outcomes
The third FSI Workshop meeting "Nature Use & Environmental Technology" took place in Halmstad Sweden. The workshop has lead to the design of several new draft project ideas. Some of them will be further elaborated depending on the interest of partners. The Cartesius Institute Centre for Sustainable Innovations developed the "Psinnovations" web site, the Communication Platform. In addition, the first edition of the FSI Newsletter, the information magazine of the FSI project, has been issued. The project partners are continuing exchanging experiences and establishing approaches in regional policies towards sustainable innovations. The project partners are developing the network between interests, experts and business and regional policies to bring innovative practices together. In addition, the project activities are focusing on the definition of trans-national thematic projects for the implementation on innovations. Several draft project proposals ("The SME's Environmental Sustainable Innovative Experience" , "Mobility Management", "Nature Use", "Marketing tools for sustainable mobility" were established on the bases of the experiences gathered in the first phase, which will be implemented in the different regions. The Lead Partner has carried out a feasibility study on the Lisbon to Gothenburg sustainable vehicle race, a project idea developed in FSI. Political support from the North Sea Commission has been obtained. |
