Background Information Web Videos The Web Video Project in more Detail
As part of the Programme’s ongoing publicity strategy and efforts to explain its work to the general public, the Interreg IIIB North Sea Programme commissioned a pilot scheme involving videos about approved projects for online use. Eight videos have been completed to date.
The accessible and user friendly nature of the videos complements the wide range of information already available on the Programme website about the Programme and its projects.
The 10-minute videos provide a platform to reach new audiences. In addition, the web video project meets the need to explore new ways of involving the general public in the work of the EU, not least since "Communicating Europe" is a strategic objective of the European Commission.
Accessible and user friendly To increase the user friendliness and accessibility of the videos, special attention has been paid to the tone and style of the language in the production process. No EU jargon, technical language or EU style abbreviations appear in the videos. The videos focus on the added value of the Programme, the specific project and how it contributes to regional development and different EU initiatives.
Editing possibilities The production has been carried out in cooperation with an experienced journalist and television producer. The end product is copyright free and available in both low resolution and broadcast quality. The last mentioned is available with separate picture and sound as well as a script, enabling broadcasters to download the movies, tailor them to suit their specific needs and add their own voiceover.
The editing possibilities enable usage of the videos for news releases, podcasts as well as archive and Programme presentation material, making this a very versatile tool of communication. In addition, it allows information about projects and the Programme to be featured in current affairs and topics discussed in the media.
Eight videos of strong projects being finalised At this stage, 8 projects have been part of the web video project. The videos can be viewed on the Programme website and copies can be ordered with the Secretariat.
