online conference CLIMATE 2011
07-12/Nov/2011
Description
Online conference CLIMATE 2011 – “Climate Change and Disaster Risk Management” 7- 12 November 2011 online The 4th on-line climate conference CLIMATE 2011 (www.climate2011.net) fills a research gap and discusses emerging issues related to climate variation, climate change and disaster risk management. It will also introduce a variety of concrete projects, initiatives and strategies currently being undertaken and implemented in the five continents, to showcase latest examples of how to ensure that matters related to climate variability and climate change are duly considered in disaster risk management. Delegates will find in the e-conference a unique opportunity to look at climate change issues not only under a scientific perspective but also in connection with disaster management in a way not yet seen elsewhere – interactive, across disciplines and 100 % virtual. To allow users from all over the world to access this extraordinary knowledge pool and avoiding travel costs and CO2 emissions – often a major barrier for participants from the developing world –, participation is free of charge. The virtual event runs from 7-12 November 2011 and takes place 100% online. Interested participants can read the papers, exchange ideas with the authors and participant experts and browse through further background information on specific aspects of climate change and disaster risk management – by accessing the e-conference from their offices, schools and universities or from home, without causing further climate burdens due to guaranteed carbon-neutrality. CLIMATE 2011 comprises the combination of a scientific online symposium per se - for information exchange and knowledge transfer among the relevant stakeholders on the one hand - and accompanying interactive virtual sections, participating researchers, policy-makers and further interested people, encouraging them to jointly discuss ways on how to overcome existing barriers towards global efforts in dealing with climate change. The SKINT project will facilitate a live-chat on flooding and risk reduction tools, climate smart tools and capacity building during CLIMATE 2011. Take part in this international event free of charges and register now: www.climate2011.net. |
