An agreement between the North Sea states and the European Community of a framework for an action plan to combat pollution in the Greater North Sea came into action today.
The plan is to be further developed until the end of the year and aims to address issues related to joint prevention, preparedness and response to marine pollution from shipping and other maritime activities in the waters of the North Sea. The action plan builds on the Bonn Agreement originally signed in 1969.
