The Northern Maritime Corridor (NMC) project is among the finalists of the RegioStars Awards 2009, DG Regio recently announced on their website. In the category “Adaptation to or mitigation of climate change”, NMC is one of three candidates shortlisted for the awards.

The winners will be announced on 16 February 2009 during the Regions for Economic Change Conference in Brussels.

The RegioStars Awards aim to identify outstanding regional development projects with original and innovative approaches as good practices for territorial cooperation in the EU.

The Northern Maritime Corridor is a Nort Sea Programme 2000-2006 project, which aimed to ensure efficient, safe and sustainable transportation through the North Sea and beyond, enhancing regional development in the North Sea Region and the Northern Periphery.
