SmartLife was one of the 70 projects approved under the IIIB Programme 2000-2006. The Project was recently shortlisted by DG Regional Development for the RegioStar awards as one of the top 20 projects of all submitted EU projects.

The Project works with modern methods of construction and pools knowledge and experience from three regions in Germany, Sweden and the UK to further promote sustainability in modern methods of construction.

It has attracted considerable interest from the highest levels in the Community and beyond – a delegation visiting from China is just one example. The UK Housing Minister and the Swedish Environment Minister were recently briefed on the Project.
