The study compiled the existing business cooperation programmes in the Wadden Sea and analysed the feasibility of establishing a transnational World Heritage business cooperation programme. Such a programme would be an opportunity to develop a collaborative network across the entire property, connecting existing programmes and developing a coherent set of standards and engage different business sectors in World Heritage.

The study "Offers and marketing of touristic bird watching in the Wadden Sea World Heritage Destination" analyses available bird watching offers and gives practice examples as well as further recommendations for tour providers, regions and destinations concerning among others marketing, communication, partnerships, accessibility, sustainability and arrangements in order to help to tap the potential of bird watching tours.

The guideline for the development of World Heritage package tours is a tool to enhance sustainable tourism in the Wadden Sea World Heritage Destination. The guidelines were developed as a pilot project for the Lower Saxon region as an exampe to formulate concrete guidance how the World Heritage status can be applied by tourism stakeholders.

Tourism and Nature Conservation – Does this go together? The “World Heritage Teaching Kit – Sustainable Tourism in the Wadden Sea” deals with these and further questions in 6 learning stations designed for pupils in lower secondary education.

At a one-day final project conference in Hamburg on 12 May 2015, representatives of the three Wadden Sea states, Denmark, Germany and the Netherlands as well as stakeholders from the business and conservation communities discussed the results of the transnational PROWAD project and explored the possibility of continuing this collaboration in the future.

20 April marked the deadline for submission of project ideas for project developers interested in a feedback session with secretariat staff. The turnout of 81 ideas submitted was the best in programme history.

A lot of new ideas are brewing in the North Sea Region project community prior to our Interwork event in Hamburg next week and the opening of the first VB call on 27 April.

For the first time, the Wadden Sea World Heritage was jointly presented by all three countries at this year's ITB Berlin, the world’s leading tourism fair, held from 4-8 March 2015. We were represented with a booth and a large photo exhibition in the sustainable tourism hall, as well as at panel discussions and stage presentations. In addition, every day one of the various partners presented examples of how World Heritage can be experienced in their region.
