The Waterfront Communities Project celebrated its results at the final conference held on 1-2 March 2007 in Edinburgh, Scotland. The project is built around 9 mutually complementing aspects of waterfront development, led by 9 different partners in the 7 NSR countries.

In light of the recent Mini-Call for Publicity, the Secretariat will be inviting all successful applicants to a lunch-to-lunch Seminar in preparation for the implementation of the projects under the call. The dates for the seminar are 26-27 of March 2007.

A new INTERREG office for cross-border cooperation between parts of Denmark, Sweden and Norway is being set up in Kungsbacka, south of Gothenburg, Sweden. This office is looking to recruit three motivated and enthusiastic Project Developers from Scandinavia.

The FRaME project held its final conference on 14-15 February 2007 in Antwerp. The project deals with flood risk management in estuaries.

As a follow-up to the first round of project ideas for the Project Idea Book (to be published at the Pre-Launch Event), a second round has now started for our Annual Conference on 20-22 June in Brunstad, Norway.

The North Sea Programme is represented at the Dutch Interreg Event organised by the ministries of VROM and Economic Affairs, "Explore Your Borders".

The possibility to submit project ideas for the upcoming Pre-Launch event in Ostend is now closed. The project ideas will be evaluated and matched against the aims, objectives and priorities of the new programme and put into a Project Ideas Book accordingly.

The North Sea Programme Secretariat is currently looking for a Secretary. This is a reopened vacancy. The deadline is 5th February 2007.

In preparation for the pre-launch event in Ostend the Secretariat will be preparing a project ideas book. Please note that the book will only contain details of the project ideas that fit the profile of the new programme. If you would like to re-submit your project idea please do so before the 26th January 2007.

The Interreg IVB North Sea Region Programme is still under development although it is anticipated that the Operational Programme will be finalised and submitted to the Commission by the end of February.

The mini call for applications is for additional publicity and communications activities to be carried out by projects already approved by the Interreg IIIB North Sea Programme.

PPG meeting no 8 was held in Brussels on the 13th of December 2006. It is anticipated to be the last PPG before submission of the Operational Programme document to the Commission.

Lead Partner seminar no 10 was held in Lübeck on the 21-22 of November. Around 80 participants attended workshops on Indicators, Article 4 visits and Reports. The seminar also featured presentations on Communications, the new Interreg IVB North Sea Region Programme and Key points for closing projects.

The new Zentrum fG?r zukunftsorientertes Bauen (ZzB) was inaugurated in Hamburg on the 16th of November. It is the second of three planned SmartLIFE centres to open, with only SmartLIFE Cambridge still to be officially inaugurated.

Following a strong demand of its services the INTERACT Point for Qualification & Transfer has increased and the office is currently employing 6 people.
