After intensive preparations, the Programme is very pleased to announce its first Call for Applications for the new Interreg IVB North Sea Region Programme. The Call will run from Monday 17th September until and including Monday 15th October 2007. The call is open for all 4 priorities including all 14 areas of intervention.

As part of the Programme’s ongoing publicity strategy and efforts to explain its work to the general public, the Interreg IIIB North Sea Programme commissioned a pilot scheme involving videos about approved projects for online use. Eight videos have been completed to date.

The Transnational Project Development workshop on Marine and Maritime Issues held in Stavanger, on the 20-21 of August attracted more than 50 attendees from all North Sea Region countries, representing government and public administration as well as private contractors and businesses.

The Joint Annual Conference 2007 was held in Brunstad, Norway, on the 20-22 of June. The 500 participants took part in a programme, which featured representatives from the Norwegian Government, the European Commission as well as the private sector and educational institutions. During the event the new programme was formally launched by a representative of the Danish Managing Authority.

The North Sea Commission has organised a shuttle bus service between Sandefjord Airport Torp and the conference centre in Brunstad.

The Programme Secretariat has collected 133 successful projects ideas in the Project Idea Book for the Annual Conference in June 2007.

In light of the recent Mini Call for Publicity the Secretariat invited successful applicants to a lunch-to-lunch seminar on 26-27 March 2007 in Billund, Denmark. The seminar was aimed at inspiring participants in order to maximise the efforts of the Mini Call.
