Regional effects of Climate Change

From the 8th until the 10th of November 13 organizations from 5 North Sea countries gather in Ghent to discuss the effects of Climate Change on their region. By 2012 these scientists and civil servants will produce a toolbox, gathering all their insights and lessons learned.

Secretariat Presented Awards at CCC Conference

Representatives from the Secretariat presented the Best Collaboration Awards 2010 at the Creative City Challenge project conference Fostering Creativity within Cities. First prize went to Wischmann Innovation and the Danish Artist Foundation, Denmark.

International Policy Forum on Regional Development

On October 7th and 8th, 2010, the European project Vital Rural Area hold its second International Policy Forum on Regional Development in the Legoland Hotel at Billund (DK). Central theme 2010: innovation and involvement in regions in transition.

Creating a Citadel Statement on Local E-Government

The Smart Cities project is involved in creating a statement on how National and EU decision makers could better support local e-government. The aim of the Citadel Statement is to produce a call to action  that builds upon the objectives of the Malmo Ministerial Declaration to demonstrate to national Governments how they can best support/promote eGovernment in their own local authorities. The North Sea Region Programme and the Smart Cities project, represented by lead beneficiary Leiedal and helped by Edinburgh Napier University are cooperating with the e-government administration unit of the Flemish Government to organise a large-scale conference on December, 14 where the statement will be presented.

NMU expands to Latin America

The first stakeholder from Latin America, the ITTP, underlines the international orientation of the Northern Maritime Universityy (NMU). The ITTP will support the project partners developing further education modules for the maritime sector and expanding NMU's market coverage.

Monitoring Committee Meeting No 7

The Monitoring Committee meeting no 7 was held on 29 and 30 September in Haarlem, the Netherlands. The decisions made by the committee include information about the next Calls for Applications and applications for cluster projects.

NMU project meeting and stakeholder visit in Bremen

Status on developed modules and next steps to do, particularly in the future project extension phase - these were the main topics at the NMU project meeting in Bremen. The project partner visited also the brand new NMU stakeholder Beluga Shipping. This leading company in project and heavy-lift shipping will be a valuable dialogue partner for the development of further NMU modules.

Open Days 2010

The North Sea Region Programme will have an exhibition stand in the 'Meeting Place' of the Committee of the Regions during the Open Days, 4-7 October in Brussels. The Secretariat will also chair a workshop on communicating across borders on Wednesday. In the evening there will be a small reception at the stand.

Cluster Project Ideas Online

A booklet with the project cluster ideas submitted to date is now available for download. The ideas will be discussed during the upcoming Cluster Project Development Workshop in Bremen on 13-14 October.
