Transnational Cooperation Seminar on Energy

Location Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre, Aberdeen, United Kingdom

The unpredictable increase of energy prices and in particular the price of oil is one of the major topics world-wide at the moment. The discussion is very much linked to the debates about tackling climate change and the dependency on energy resources.

Seminar objectives

  • To learn about and discuss the challenges of the North Sea region in terms of energy. The energy theme is a cross-sectoral issue within the new Interreg IVB programme. It relates to all 4 priorities – innovation, environment, accessibility and communities. Specific areas of intervention are environmentally responsible energy production practices in Priority 2 (environment) and energy efficient settlements in Priority 4 (communities), whereas energy can be a relevant topic within Priority 1 (innovation) and has an impact on the activities within Priority 3 (accessibility).
  • To find out about the possibilities the new programme has to contribute to tackling these challenges through transnational cooperation projects within the North Sea region.
  • To discuss existing and new project ideas in terms of their specific contribution towards policy aims, impacts for the whole North Sea region and lasting results.

If you have a project idea you would like to have presented and discussed during the seminar, please use the Project Idea Form. In case your idea is already listed in the Project Ideas Section on the programme’s website, just provide us with the name of the project and the number from the Project Ideas Section.
Deadline for sending in project ideas is 29 August 2008. Please submit it to the following address: info@northsearegion.eu

Emvironmental sustainability is a vital pre-condition for the competitiveness of the regions involved in the new programme. In this context, the programme tries to organise its events in a climate-friendly way. Filling in this form will help us to calculate the amount of greenhouse gasses which have been avoided and which have been produced in total.
